Top 10 Reasons to use Reclaimed Wood

Published by Rustic Wood Accents Team on 6th Oct 2016

  1. Reclaimed wood has history. Some is industrial, coming from an old house, and some is hand-hewn barn wood, coming from a barn built over 100 years ago using only hand tools.

  2. It’s unique! Each piece of wood has its own characteristics. You won’t find the same design in your neighbor’s house.
  3. It’s good for the environment. It slows down deforestation. By reusing wood you are allowing less trees to be cut down, giving us more oxygen to breathe. Ahh!
  4. Reusing is even better than recycling. Recycling still breaks down the wood and uses other products to make something new. Reusing finds a new way to use the wood without much change.
  5. When you use reclaimed wood, you are helping small businesses. Large corporations produce new lumber and leave the reclaimed wood for the little guys.
  6. Aging of the wood brings out the natural color of the wood.
  7. Reclaimed wood is affordable. As the demand for reclaimed wood goes up and the supply goes down the price will increase.
  8. It’s stronger. Reclaimed wood is often from old growth trees. Old growth trees are more dense, hardier, and less likely to warp.
  9. It looks great!
  10. Customers talk about how good it makes them feel. For reasons 1-9, you are doing your part to help everyone from individual business owners to the planet.
